It‘s very like the glimpses I‘ve had of Sweden and Norway architecturally/infrastructure wise. February may not be the best time for a photographer to visit as it is overcast, and it is currently sleeting and the sun didn‘t rise this morning until 09.52 and it will set at around 17.30 today.

Nordic men don‘t smile no matter how cool and kind they look, many of them have beards… perhaps I am originally a Viking? The woman do smile… they seem quite loud and outnumber the gents.

The hot water smells of sulphur so no matter how hard you scrub yourself in the shower and no matter with what trendy aromatherapy products you cleanse yourself with you still step out smelling (and in my case, looking like) a boiled egg.

Reykjavík is a small and quaint city with colourful corrugated iron town houses. There are candles outside the shops and cafes and warm fairy lights all over the trees and shopfronts. It‘s expensive but not as expensive as a really expensive pub or gift shop in Surrey. It‘s calm and gentle. It‘s small and manageable and they are a friendly bunch with their squeaky, lyrical up and down accents. The national food substance appears to be dried fish in a vacuum packed bag. Not tried the beer. Don‘t drink beer. It makes me gassy.
